  • Fondue in the Catacombs

    Last weekend we descended beneath the roads of Paris to have a fondue dinner. The 4 of us took a 6 hour journey underground. I made everyone sit really still for the picture, the smell of cheese made that very hard.

    The chamber we were in was built for the World's Fair in 1900 as a tourist attraction to illustrate mining operations. More recently it was the home of a clandestine cinema and bar, shut down by police in 2004.

  • Paris Catacombs

    Early Tuesday morning, 2 weeks ago, I entered into the Paris Catacombs with 2 friends. From 1:30 until 7:30 we traversed tunnels sprawling beneath the city finding traces of Parisians past and present. Crawling through claustrophobic passages I was given a taste of a different side of Paris. Waking up the next day most my body ached with pain, but all it did was encourage me to explore beneath the city again.
