• Tall Pictures

                                              Bouillon Chartier, December 7th, today.

Recently in my photography, I have been obsessed with making vertical photos. I’ve enjoyed using the longer frame to compose my images in a different way. I have also been very interested in using film emulating software in my post production work. Both of these techniques are styles past-Will would have not been interested in. I used to view photography as a preferably horizontal medium and post production tricks as cheating. Growing has never felt so good or been so much fun! You always have to reevaluate your past beliefs and often times you will find something new and interesting to pursue.

  • Fondue in the Catacombs

Last weekend we descended beneath the roads of Paris to have a fondue dinner. The 4 of us took a 6 hour journey underground. I made everyone sit really still for the picture, the smell of cheese made that very hard.

The chamber we were in was built for the World's Fair in 1900 as a tourist attraction to illustrate mining operations. More recently it was the home of a clandestine cinema and bar, shut down by police in 2004.

  • Family and Friends on Vacation

A few portraits I made of some family and friends while back in the states for vacation.

  • Wakulla Springs, Florida

On vacation I went on a boat trip down the river in Florida with my family and their friends. Here are two images from that trip, one of some people we found along the river and the other of my dad jumping into the river.

  • Pro-Palestine Manifestation

A pro-Palestinian march took place in Paris a couple days ago. Marches or demonstrations are occurring every few days right now and I wanted to go photograph one of these manifestations. They are protesting the Israeli government's current strikes in Gaza. The atmosphere is a strange mixture of anger at the conflict and joy of the community. This manifestation was peaceful and friendly, however in the past there have been aggression between police and a handful of protesters.

The other side of a manifestation. During demonstrations like this it is pretty common to see a large police presence on the edges. Although the riot gear they sport looks incredibly intimidating (and shocked me the first time I saw it), usually they are just there to make sure the protest doesn't leave its route and prevent anything from happening. However the previous (unapproved) demonstration led to conflicts with the police, rocks being thrown and tear gas fired in return. This time was very peaceful. There was one near-incident where a small group of about 20 young men were yelling at the police, however organizers and other attendants maintained the peace and stopped the men from inciting anything more.
